The Challenge:
The driving constraint for this project was size, the media node had to be as small as possible. The look had to be consistent with the machined aluminum and glass motif defined in the rest of the line.
The Result:
Working closely with WebTV engineers Mechanistic determined that the main PCB could be as small as 8" square with the possible addition of a daughter card later. Allowing space for this potential addition, Mechanistic created a mechanical layout of all components, including a mini HDD and a PCI riser card. Mechanistic devised an innovative cooling solution using two miniature axial fans side by side to conserve headroom. This project was completed on time and on budget!
