The Challenge:

This product was intended to roll out in multiple countries simultaneously around the world. The issues of different power supply requirements, smart card configuration, and user interfaces necessitated multiple designs.

The Result:

Based on the different desired configurations, Mechanistic developed a number of different mechanical layouts. A matrix of features and requirements was developed to distill the minimum number of components necessary to meet the worlwide market requirements. In the end, we were able to use a universal sheetmetal enclosure with features included for all intended configurations. This solution allowed the client to implement different bezel assemblies to meet worldwide market needs but maximize economies of scale in the production of the main chassis assembly.
